Passing of a Friend in Houston

I worked with Dot for many years at Burroughs Wellcome and was so sad to hear of her death. Kevin and I visited with her several times in Houston after her retirement and move there to be near her kids.

Dorothy West Dausmann, 77 and better known to her family and friends as "Dot", had trusted in Christ and went to be with her Savior on Nov. 13, 2009, at home in Houston, Texas, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Capt. Paul Robert Dausmann, USAF, who died in Greenville in 1969, and her parents Ross and Eloise Ormond West, of Kinston. Dot graduated from Grainger High School in Kinston, and the University of N.C. at Greensboro. She lived in Greenville from 1969 until 1991. In 1991, she retired from her position as secretary to the plant manager of Burroughs-Wellcome, then moved to Houston, Texas . Dot is survived by her loving children, Bob Dausmann, Deborah Dausmann-Kennedy, son-in-law Greg Kennedy, and a granddaughter, Alina Kennedy, all of the Houston, Texas, area. She is survived, also, by her sister, Mrs. Faye Barber, of Greenville, a brother, Mr. William West, of Wilmington, a beloved aunt of Kinston, Mrs. Mina Curtis, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Dorothy left a legacy of love as a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She is missed by many including sisters-in-law, Ruth Thomas and Dorothy Chaffee of Evansville, Ind., a special family friend, Debbie Patchen, of Westerville, Ohio, her friends, neighbors, and online buddies. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Queen Street United Methodist Church, Kinston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Queen Street Church's Academy program, P.O. Box 508, Kinston, NC 28502. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15.
