They just brought him back..The drain is working..I haven’t talked to a doctor yet, but it must have gone good since he is not in ICU..thank goodness. (Cindy)

2:58 pm
They just took him down for the surgical procedure to put the drain in to get the fluid off/away from the lung area. Pray for success in this procedure as the doctor told us it was a difficult and tedious procedure. (Cindy)

12:09 pm
The doctor just came in and went over the procedure and all the risks and told Steve how tricky this area was going around the liver and colon into the lining of the lung to drain the fluid off and that there were considerable risks such as punchering the lung or the lining, having to insert a chest tube, etc or getting air into the lung and if any of this occurs of course he would go back to ICU..It seems to never end..(Cindy)

We've have a rough weekend.. He has some fluid building up on the side where he had the surgery underneath his lung. They did the CT scan on Saturday and confirmed that it was the fluid causing the problem with his white count. Dr. Calvo decided he did not want the weekend crew doing this procedure since it involves draining fluid off-/near and around the lining of the lung and this is a serious procedure. They are putting another drain tube in that area. He wants the lung specialist to do this so they delayed it until today. Hopefully this can get him on the right track again.

Update on dad:Dad's surgery at Chapel Hill Hospital went well. The doctor got all of the tumors from what he could see. The doctor said not to thank him yet because dad will have a tough road of recovery. A person can not live with less than 20% of their liver which is what dad now has. Dad was told he would have to stay in the hospital for a minimum of ten days, however he has had some recent complications which will determine his length of stay. There is still a concern with Dad’s bilirubin numbers being too high. They put a new drain line in the liver on Thursday hoping this would cause the numbers to come down. They did not come down as of this morning so they are going to have to put an additional line in as well as the one they put in on Thursday. His white count was also up a little today. They are hoping to do this procedure today instead of waiting until Monday as initially planned. All of these procedures are really tiring him out.Thank you for your prayers. Some of you had asked for his address. Cindy tries to make it home to pick up the mail daily.Steve Williams461 E Second St.Clayton, NC 27520 (Lolly Williams)
